One of the really neat features of Configuration Manager Technical Preview 1802 was in Software Center where you can now prevent the user from seeing applications that are already installed on their device. Again a really simple change but something base on user feedback and will make a lot of people pretty happy.
To enable this you simply need to amend the client settings for Software Center. To do this:
- Browse to the Administration workspace.
- Browse to Client Settings and either create a new client settings policy or amend an existing one.
- Browse to the Software Center setting.
- Click Customize.
- Tick the box for “Hide installed applications in Software Center”
Now when you deploy an application to a device, the user should not see the applications that are already installed on their device. I don’t know with 100% certainty but I would presume this is using the detection method provided within the application you created. This being the case, this feature will not work with software packages.
